Registration is now open for the second ISSF Academy Athlete Shotgun Course, led by Olympic champions Russell and Lauryn Mark, following the success of the pilot edition.

The five-week interactive online course is designed for novice to intermediate athletes competing in the ISSF Trap and Skeet disciplines. It offers step-by-step instruction, practical guidance and direct interaction with the Marks to help participants develop their skills and build a stronger foundation in shotgun shooting.

The course features more than 40 short video tutorials across its first four lectures, specially filmed and edited for the ISSF Academy. Topics range from choosing the appropriate shooting side – right or left – to essential range protocols, equipment, fundamental techniques and setting realistic goals. Participants will also explore the mental and physical challenges involved in progressing through the ISSF pathway.

While the programme is primarily aimed at developing athletes, it also provides more experienced competitors with an opportunity to revisit the fundamentals and identify habits that may be holding back their performance. Most topics apply to both Trap and Skeet, with selected sections dedicated to techniques specific to each discipline.

A key feature of the course is the opportunity to learn directly from Russell and Lauryn Mark. The pair will join participants online each week, guiding them through the video material and answering questions as they explore the sport.

The final lecture will offer a practical learning opportunity through an online critique of selected participants’ techniques and equipment. By observing the feedback and recommendations, all participants will gain insights into refining their own setup and improving their performance.

The first lecture will take place on 20 January 2027 at 18:00 AEDT (UTC+11).
