European Championship Shotgun: Gálvez and Tuncer crowned European Trap champions in Athens

Spain’s Fátima Gálvez and Türkiye’s N. Tolga Tuncer claimed the senior Trap titles at the European Championship Shotgun in Athens, Greece, on Friday, 9 October.

Italy’s Valentina Archetti and Türkiye’s Egemen Agca won the junior titles. The Trap programme concluded on Saturday, 10 October, with the Mixed Team and Mixed Team Junior finals, where the Individual Neutral Athlete team and Great Britain took gold, respectively.

The Championships also saw record performances across Trap and Skeet, including six World Record achievements, either set or equalled.

Gálvez wins Trap Women gold

Fátima Gálvez claimed the Trap Women title with 26 targets in the final on 9 October. Italy’s Silvana Maria Stanco took silver with 24, while her compatriot Jessica Rossi completed the podium with 20.

Türkiye’s Rumeysa Pelin Kaya finished fourth with 17 targets, ahead of Italy’s Erica Sessa in fifth with 13. Daria Semianova, competing as AIN, placed sixth with 12, while Slovenia’s Jasmina Macek and Finland’s Sara Silja Patricia Nummela finished seventh and eighth, respectively, both with seven targets.
Tuncer takes Trap Men title after shoot-off

The Trap Men final delivered a close contest, with Türkiye’s N. Tolga Tuncer and Slovakia’s Erik Varga both finishing on 29 targets. Tuncer prevailed in the shoot-off, winning 3–2 to take gold, while Varga claimed silver.

Great Britain’s Aaron Heading secured bronze with 24 targets. Czechia’s Pavel Vanek finished fourth with 19, followed by Croatia’s Josip Glasnovic and Türkiye’s Yavuz Ilnam, who both scored 13. Germany’s Marius Josef Erik John and Italy’s Erminio Frasca completed the final, each with eight targets.
Individual Neutral Athlete and Great Britain win Mixed Team gold

The Trap Mixed Team final on 10 October saw Daria Semianova and Ramir Nikolaev, competing for the Individual Neutral Athlete team, claim gold with 36 targets. Their performance was marked as a European Record.

Slovakia’s Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova and Erik Varga took silver with 33 targets, while Czechia’s Zina Hrdlickova and Jiri Liptak secured bronze with 24. Slovenia’s Jasmina Macek and Bostjan Macek finished fourth with 10 targets.

In the Trap Mixed Team Junior final, Great Britain’s Isabelle Margaret Mackintosh and Thomas William Betts won gold with 32 targets. Spain’s Irene del Rey Ruiz and Eduard Salichs took silver with 27, while Hungary’s Anna Nyitrai and Bence Doeboerhegyi finished third with 19. France’s Jeanne Auriche and Thomas Agez placed fourth with 13 targets.

Archetti equals World Record Junior on the way to gold

Italy’s Valentina Archetti won the Trap Women Junior title on 8 October with 28 targets, equalling the World Record Junior. Her compatriot Greta Sforzi took silver with 26, while Hungary’s Anna Nyitrai claimed bronze with 20.

France’s Olga Niellen-Dezecache finished fourth with 15 targets. Kseniia Stepina, competing as AIN, placed fifth with 11, ahead of Germany’s Karla Riemann in sixth with nine. Slovakia’s Kristina Hobothova finished seventh with seven, while Aleksandra Kosmina, competing as AIN, placed eighth with four.
Agca leads Trap Men Junior

Türkiye’s Egemen Agca won the Trap Men Junior final on 8 October with 27 targets. Greece’s Georgios Kounadinis took silver with 25, while Italy’s Alessandro Materazzo secured bronze with 22.

Germany’s Pius Rosenecker finished fourth with 16 targets. Italy’s Luca Gerri and Germany’s Henry John both scored 12, with Gerri ranked fifth and John sixth. Portugal’s Rodrigo Oliveira Barbosa placed seventh with five, followed by France’s Enzo Dury with four.
Six World Record achievements across Trap and Skeet

The record performances began on 7 October, when Italy’s Jessica Rossi, Silvana Maria Stanco and Erica Sessa combined for 359 targets to set a World Record in the Trap Women team event.

In Trap Men qualification, Croatia’s Josip Glasnovic hit all 125 targets to equal the Qualification World Record. In the junior events, Italy’s Luca Gerri equalled the Qualification World Record Junior in Trap Men with 124 targets, while Archetti equalled the World Record Junior in Trap Women with 28 targets.

Two further achievements came in Skeet Junior. Italy’s Antonio La Volpe equalled the World Record Junior in Skeet Men with 34 targets, while Ukraine’s Ielyzaveta Pyvovarova equalled the Qualification World Record Junior in Skeet Women with 123 targets.

The European Championship Shotgun in Athens brought together senior and junior athletes across the shotgun disciplines, with the final Trap events concluding on 10 October.
