As part of the strategy devised by the current leadership team, the ISSF is working closely with National Federations to develop and exploit television rights in key territories, extending the visibility of major ISSF competitions beyond the countries in which they are held.
In China, the Chinese Shooting Association has appointed China Education Television (CETV) as the broadcaster for ISSF World Championship content, creating an additional platform for fans across the country to follow the sport.
The cooperation will see CETV provide coverage of the 2026 ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Doha, ensuring that major ISSF competition can reach Chinese audiences even when events are held outside the country.
Extending the reach of shooting sport in China
China is an important country for the ISSF, both for its large population and its strong presence in international shooting sport. The country is home to many of the world’s leading athletes and has a significant shooting sport community.
The agreement with the Chinese Shooting Association represents a further step in the ISSF’s efforts to build a wider and more consistent international audience for its competitions. It also builds on the Chinese Federation’s work to develop the exploitation of ISSF television rights in the Chinese territory.
CETV Sports will broadcast the 12 World Championship Doha 2026 finals live through its Douyin and WeChat Channels, while CETV-4 will provide delayed coverage of the same sessions through its Youth Training Camp programme. The content will be available nationwide in China.
The partnership follows CETV’ previous involvement with ISSF shooting sport, having live-streamed part of the finals at the 2026 ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou. The latest agreement extends this cooperation beyond an event held on Chinese territory and provides continued visibility for ISSF competitions throughout the season.

CETV brings shooting sport to a nationwide audience
Established in 1986 as the only national-level professional television station in China, CETV is dedicated to education and youth development, broadcasting nationwide. It currently operates five television channels and multiple online media platforms, reaching 1.14 billion viewers as of March 2025.
In recent years, CETV has also undertaken six consecutive years of sports promotion projects for the General Administration of Sport of China, with CETV-4 providing a nationwide platform connecting sport and education.
Liu Chao, President of China Education Television, said:
“China Education Television is a national level educational professional media with a nationwide audience. In broadcasting the 2026 Doha Shooting World Championships, we hope to draw on the reach and credibility of our national platform to bring the world's highest level events to families across the country, especially young people. We also hope, through commentary from the host and guests, to help young people understand the competition and the spirit of sports, and to ensure that top-level events truly contribute to the healthy development of Chinese youth.”
ISSF President Luciano Rossi welcomed the cooperation and highlighted the importance of working with National Federations to expand the sport’s visibility.
“Increasing the visibility and interest in shooting sport worldwide is one of our priorities, and China is an important market in this strategy. We are therefore very pleased to work closely with the Chinese Shooting Association to extend the reach of ISSF competitions to Chinese audiences beyond the events held in China.”
“I would like to thank the Chinese Shooting Association for its efforts in developing the television rights in China and for working with us to secure an additional platform for our competitions. The appointment of CETV as broadcaster allows us to bring the World Championships in Doha to a nationwide audience and to continue building visibility for shooting sport throughout the year.”
World Championships Doha set for November
The 2026 ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 1 to 14 November, bringing together the world’s leading Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun athletes.
The Championships will also mark the beginning of the LA28 Olympic qualification process, with 36 Olympic quota places to be awarded across the 12 individual Olympic events.
Through its cooperation with the Chinese Shooting Association and CETV, the ISSF is adding another important platform for audiences in China to follow the World Championships and discover the world’s leading shooting sport athletes.
