Italy signed off the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun Suhl 2026 in spectacular fashion as Francesco Tanfoglio and Maria Iovinella captured the Trap Mixed Team Junior title with a new World Record Junior (WRJ) of 35 targets.

The Italian pair defeated Stepan Konstantinov and Kseniia Samofalova, competing as Individual Neutral Athletes, while the United States of America claimed the bronze medal.

Tanfoglio and Iovinella were in outstanding form throughout the final, building momentum with every series before producing a flawless finish to reach 35 targets, establishing a new World Record Junior. Tanfoglio contributed 18 hits, while Iovinella added 17, completing a dominant performance that capped a memorable championship for Italy. For Tanfoglio, the victory followed his individual Trap Men Junior world title and an Equalled World Record Junior, making him one of the standout athletes of the competition.
The silver medal went to Stepan Konstantinov and Kseniia Samofalova, who combined for 30 targets after a composed display throughout the final. Both athletes enjoyed impressive championships in Suhl, with Samofalova having also secured an individual bronze medal in Trap Women Junior earlier in the week. Their runner-up finish highlighted the strength of the Individual Neutral Athletes across the shotgun events.
The United States of America secured bronze thanks to Kaleb Horinek and Ava-Elizabeth Downs, who finished with 22 targets. Horinek led the team with 13 hits, while Downs added 9, earning the American pair a well-deserved place on the podium after another consistent performance.
Fourth place went to Timotej Toth and Adriana Piknova of Slovakia, who concluded the competition with 14 targets. Reaching the medal matches represented another strong achievement for the Slovak duo and rounded off an impressive championship campaign.

As the final event of the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun Suhl 2026, the Trap Mixed Team Junior competition provided a fitting conclusion to ten days of world-class competition. Throughout the championship, hundreds of the world's best young rifle, pistol and shotgun athletes competed for medals, records and valuable international experience, once again demonstrating the bright future of shooting sport.
