The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) was represented at the historic IOC Session on “Fit for the Future”, which took place in Lausanne today by ISSF President Luciano Rossi and ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo, as the Olympic Movement gathered to discuss the long-term evolution of the Games and the future direction of Olympic sport.
Led by IOC President Kirsty Coventry, the “Fit for the Future” initiative is designed to ensure that the Olympic Movement remains relevant, sustainable and impactful in a rapidly changing world. The process is examining key themes including the future of the Olympic programme, youth engagement, governance, commercial partnerships, athlete protection and the long-term sustainability of the Olympic Games. It forms part of a broad consultation across the Olympic family aimed at strengthening the Movement for future generations.

ISSF President Luciano Rossi welcomed the initiative and reiterated the federation’s full support for the IOC’s vision:
“The IOC’s ‘Fit for the Future’ programme demonstrates strong and forward-looking leadership at a time when sport faces significant challenges and opportunities. ISSF was fully engaged with the consultation process and shares the belief that the Olympic Games and Olympic values must continue to evolve to remain relevant and meaningful for future generations. We support the IOC’s decision to create a $100 million fund for athletes, allowing those who compete at Olympic Games to apply for grants of $10,000.”

“We also particularly appreciate the emphasis being placed on good governance, transparency, and accountability. These are fundamental pillars that help ensure sport remains credible, trusted and respected by athletes, stakeholders and the wider public. The ISSF has made significant progress in this area in recent years and remains fully committed to continuing that journey.
“By working together to embrace continuous improvement, the Olympic Movement and can ensure that the Olympic Games remain the most inspiring sporting event in the world while safeguarding values that unite us all.”
