The Athlete Role Model programme is a key part of the Youth Olympic Games, bringing together Olympic champions, medallists and emerging leaders in sport to mentor young athletes.
During Dakar 2026, Athlete Role Models will deliver workshops and provide guidance on topics such as performance, well-being and life as an elite athlete, helping participants navigate both sport and personal development.

Jomana Elsaiy represents a new generation of shooting sport athletes. Competing in precision shooting disciplines, she is part of Egypt’s national pathway and continues to develop towards international-level competition.
Alongside her sporting career, Elsaiy is currently a university student, balancing academic commitments with her progression in high-performance sport. She is also contributing to the growth and visibility of women’s participation in shooting sport in Egypt.
Her selection as an Athlete Role Model reflects not only her athletic journey, but also her potential to inspire others.
“I am an Egyptian role model for shooting,” she said.

“I am super proud and excited to be part of this.”
For her, the role goes beyond personal recognition.
“It means growth, responsibility, and the chance to represent my country and inspire others.”
During the Games, she hopes to share her experience and support young athletes facing the pressures of competition.
“I want to offer motivation, share my experience, and help athletes stay focused and confident under pressure — and also explain what shooting is and its advantages.”
Reflecting on her own journey, Elsaiy highlights the importance of perseverance:
“Don’t give up. Even if you fail many times, keep going.”
Her message aligns closely with the values of the Youth Olympic Games, where learning, development and inspiration are at the heart of the athlete experience.

Through her involvement in Dakar 2026, Jomana Elsaiy will help bring shooting sport closer to young athletes from around the world, contributing to the development of the sport both on and off the field of play.
